Lobelia anceps
Lobelia anceps
Lobelia anceps, or Angled Lobelia, is a creeping, perennial herb native to Australia, commonly found in wetlands, along watercourses, and in damp grasslands. It forms low, spreading mats of bright green foliage and produces small, delicate, light blue to violet flowers with white markings, blooming throughout much of the year, particularly in warmer months.
Thriving in moist to waterlogged soils and tolerating full sun to partial shade, Angled Lobelia is an excellent groundcover for wetland restoration, riparian zones, and water gardens. Its dense growth helps stabilize soil, prevent erosion, and suppress weeds. The flowers attract pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, adding ecological value to its surroundings.
With its soft, spreading habit, adaptability, and year-round blooms, Lobelia anceps is a versatile and visually appealing choice for biodiversity-focused landscaping, habitat creation, and sustainable garden designs.
