Leptospermum lanigerum

Leptospermum lanigerum

Leptospermum lanigerum, or Woolly Tea-tree, is a hardy, medium-sized shrub or small tree native to southeastern Australia, commonly found in wetlands, riparian zones, and damp forested areas. Growing up to 4 meters tall, it is distinguished by its narrow, silvery-grey, woolly foliage and profuse, delicate white flowers that bloom in spring and summer. These flowers are a valuable nectar source for bees and other pollinators.

Woolly Tea-tree thrives in moist to waterlogged soils and tolerates full sun to partial shade. Its adaptability to wet environments makes it ideal for riparian restoration, wetland rehabilitation, and as a feature plant in damp gardens. The dense foliage provides excellent habitat and shelter for native birds and insects, enhancing local biodiversity.

With its soft, textured foliage, ornamental blooms, and ecological contributions, Leptospermum lanigerum is a versatile and attractive choice for native gardens, habitat restoration projects, and sustainable landscaping.
