Juncus pallidus

Juncus pallidus

Juncus pallidus, or Pale Rush, is a tall, clump-forming perennial rush native to Australia, commonly found in wetlands, along waterways, and in seasonally waterlogged areas. Reaching heights of up to 2 meters, it features upright, cylindrical, pale green stems and clusters of small, brownish flower heads that bloom near the stem tips from spring to summer, adding structure and vertical interest to wetland landscapes.

Pale Rush thrives in waterlogged soils and tolerates full sun to partial shade, making it ideal for wetland rehabilitation, riparian planting, and erosion control. Its dense root system helps stabilize soil, filter runoff, and improve water quality, while providing important habitat and shelter for aquatic wildlife, including frogs, insects, and birds.

With its impressive height, ecological benefits, and adaptability, Juncus pallidus is a valuable species for wetland restoration, biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable landscaping projects.
